Welcome to Lunar Woods Apothecary, where candles, nature, and a bit of family chaos collide!

It all started one unsuspecting evening in our kitchen. My stepson had recently gotten a candle-making kit (a seemingly innocent hobby, or so we thought), and soon, the entire family was hooked. Picture this: my husband, teenage stepdaughter, and I surrounded by an endless supply of candles, laughing and wondering, “What are we going to do with all of these?” That’s when we had the bright idea (pun intended): let's sell them!

I’ve always felt deeply connected to nature. As a lifelong lover of the woods, animals, and gardening, I’ve found that the natural world has this grounding, cyclical rhythm that I cherish. Whether I’m hiking through the woods or tending to my chickens and ducks at home, nature is my peaceful place. So, when it came time to name the business, the "Lunar Woods" part felt like an obvious homage to my love for the forest and the calming effect it has always had on me.

Lunar Woods Apothecary might have started as a happy accident, but it has since grown into something much bigger. We create eco-friendly, allergen-free candles that you can enjoy without worrying about harsh chemicals or synthetic scents. Let’s be real—no one likes a candle that smells like it was cooked up in a lab, and I certainly won’t sell a candle that I don’t love myself! I started this journey because I know how powerful scents can be, especially when you’re looking to unwind or create a calming space. (Trust me, candles were my saving grace when I was dealing with severe anxiety and weekly panic attacks—more on that later.)

We pride ourselves on using 100% soy wax from American-grown soybeans, and we’re all about supporting small businesses for our supplies. I’ve even sourced dried cranberries from an Indigenous-owned business for our simmer pot kits. When I say I want to lift others up with me, I mean it. We’re all in this together—no competition here, just a community that shares the same values.

Beyond the candles, I’ve always been fascinated by the magic of herbs, crystals, and the natural remedies that connect us to the earth. Maybe it’s the years spent working with horses that kept me so attuned to the seasons and the wild, or maybe it’s just something I’ve carried with me since childhood (my favorite nap spot as a baby was in the garage with the door wide open, napping in the breeze!). Either way, this connection is what drives me to create products that aren’t just beautiful—they’re meaningful.
